Antje Messerschmidt

violin, viola

was born in 1970 in Zeulenroda (Thuringia). Already in 1984, she was granted the Stavenhagen-
Preis of the city Greiz for violin. From 1985 to 1988, she went to the Spezialschule für Musik in
Weimar and then studied at the Hochschule für Musik "Frank Liszt". Moving to Berlin in 1992 opened
up opportunities to take part in ensembles and bands of different styles of music. Starting 1995, she
emphasized on New Music and improvised
music. For several years, she has worked
with the pianist and composer Hermann
Keller. Her many concerts took her to
performances at festivals and numerous
guest performances at clubs. She has
participated in broadcast and recording
productions. Since 1993 she teaches at
the "Musikhaus e.V." in Berlin-
Hohenschönhausen.
